Viral Diseases:
- Mosaic Disease of Tobacco – Caused by Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV). Leaves become shrunken and small, mosaic pattern appears, chlorophyll destroyed. Control: Burn affected plants.
- Bunchy Top of Banana – Caused by Banana Bunchy Top Virus. Plant becomes dwarf, leaves form rosette at top. Spread by aphids.
- Fiji Virus (SRBSDV) – Affects rice and maize. Spread by white-backed plant hopper. Causes dwarfing and yield loss.
Bacterial Diseases:
- Wilt of Potato – Caused by Pseudomonas solanacearum. Brown ring in xylem.
- Black Arm of Cotton – Caused by Xanthomonas. Water-soaked lesions on leaves.
- Bacterial Blight of Rice – Caused by Xanthomonas oryzae.
- Citrus Canker – Caused by Xanthomonas citri.
- Sandalwood Spike Disease – Caused by phytoplasma, no cure.
Fungal Diseases:
- Yellow Rust of Wheat – Yellow powdery stripes on leaves.
- Athelia rolfsii – Fruit rot of jackfruit.
- Fusarium Wilt TR4 – Affects banana plantations.
Important Facts:
- Damping off – Pythium debaryanum
- Red rot of sugarcane – Colletotrichum falcatum
