How IAS Indrajeet Singh Turned Lucknow into a Net-Zero Waste City
Motivational Story
For years, Lucknow struggled with massive garbage dumps, inefficient waste collection, and poor cleanliness rankings. When IAS Indrajeet Singh took charge, he envisioned something radical — a net-zero waste city.
Under his leadership, legacy dumps were cleared, waste segregation was enforced, citizen participation was encouraged, and more than 12,000 sanitation workers were empowered with better systems and dignity of work.
The results spoke for themselves. Lucknow climbed from 44th rank to 3rd in Swachh Survekshan rankings. What was once seen as an unmanageable problem became a symbol of urban transformation through leadership and people’s participation.
