IAS Siddharth Jaiswal’s Mission to End Child Marriage in Sepahijala

Motivational Story

Child marriage had silently plagued many parts of Tripura for years. In Sepahijala district, IAS officer Siddharth Jaiswal decided that silent tolerance was no longer an option.

He launched “Mission Sankalp” with a clear objective — to end child marriage at the grassroots level. Instead of depending only on police action, the administration focused on community awareness, school involvement, and social mobilisation.

The impact was visible. More than 100 children were rescued from child marriages. Ten villages were officially declared child-marriage-free. Schools, teachers, village leaders, and parents were all made stakeholders in the mission.

By changing mindsets rather than just enforcing law, Siddharth Jaiswal proved that social reform works best when administration walks hand in hand with society.
