How IAS Saumya Jha Transformed Education in Tonk Using AI

Motivational Story

In Tonk district of Rajasthan, poor mathematics results had become a long-standing concern. Class 10 pass percentages were low, students feared the subject, and teachers struggled to identify individual learning gaps. When IAS officer Saumya Jha took charge, she decided to tackle the problem not with routine inspections, but with technology and data-driven governance.

She introduced “PadhaiWithAI”, an innovative learning model based on personalized learning, real-time problem-solving, and continuous performance tracking. Instead of treating the entire classroom as one unit, the system analysed each student’s weaknesses and strengths and provided targeted practice and guidance.

The result was nothing short of extraordinary. In just six weeks, the Class 10 mathematics pass percentage jumped to an impressive 96.4%. Students who once feared numbers started gaining confidence, and teachers finally had a tool that helped them track real progress.

What makes this initiative truly special is its scalability. The Tonk model has shown that with the right use of technology and administrative will, India’s education system can be transformed even in resource-constrained districts.
