- Chairmanship: Chaired by Anand Deshpande, Managing Director of Persistent Systems, the committee comprises leading experts from premier institutes such as IITs and NITs.
Curriculum Expansion:
- Lateral Integration of AI: The committee will advise on embedding AI-related topics and practical applications across various academic streams, ensuring that every student gains foundational insights in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics.
- Regular Curriculum Revision: AICTE follows a structured process of curriculum review every two years, ensuring the content remains relevant with emerging AI technologies.
Faculty Training & Development:
- Upskilling Educators: Recognizing the evolving nature of AI in education, prominent emphasis has been placed on training faculty members. This is to adapt teaching methodologies, such as evaluating AI-generated assignments and updating question framing to prevent rote replication.
Collaboration & Partnerships:
- Industry and Academia: Partnerships with leading tech companies and academic institutions are being encouraged to design cutting-edge, practical AI modules.
Significance & Expected Impact:
Holistic Education Transformation:
- Broad-Based AI Literacy: By integrating AI across disciplines, AICTE aims to democratize access to digital skills and foster an environment where even non-technical students are familiar with AI concepts.
- Enhanced Employability: Graduates across various fields will be better equipped for an AI-driven job market, reducing the digital skills gap.
Modification in Teaching Practices:
- Evolving Pedagogical Approaches: With AI influencing traditional teaching methods, there is a strategic push to redesign assignments, projects, and evaluations to encourage analytical rather than mechanical learning.
Scale of Implementation:
- Wide Outreach: The initiative is expected to roll out across approximately 14,000 colleges, impacting nearly 40 million students and positioning India’s technical education system as future-ready.
FDI Surge in India's Pharma Sector
Overview & Key Figures:
- Total FDI Inflow:
- The pharmaceutical and medical devices sector witnessed a robust foreign investment inflow, with total FDI reaching approximately Rs 19,134.4 crore during the financial year 2024-25.
- Breakdown of Investment:
- Rs 11,888 crore was invested from April to December in the last fiscal.
- An additional 13 brownfield FDI proposals worth about Rs 7,246.40 crore were approved, contributing to the overall sum.

Policy Initiatives & Government Schemes:
- Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme:
- A key driver behind this investment surge, the PLI scheme for pharmaceuticals has significantly boosted domestic manufacturing.
- The scheme aims to:
- Attract investments,
- Reduce import dependency,
- Enhance exports, and
- Strengthen India's global manufacturing base.
- Exceeding Targets:
- Originally committed investments under the PLI scheme have surpassed targets, with realized investments already exceeding the initial commitments—indicative of the scheme’s success in attracting FDI.
Notable Projects & Sectoral Impact:
- Originally committed investments under the PLI scheme have surpassed targets, with realized investments already exceeding the initial commitments—indicative of the scheme’s success in attracting FDI.
- Bulk Drugs PLI Scheme:
- Under this initiative, a total of 48 projects have been selected, with 34 projects already commissioned for the production of 25 essential bulk drugs.
- Key Projects Include:
- Penicillin G Project (Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh):
- Investment of approximately Rs 1,910 crore,
- Expected to substitute imports worth around Rs 2,700 crore per annum.
- Clavulanic Acid Project (Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh):
- Carries an investment of about Rs 450 crore,
- Anticipated to offer significant import substitution benefits.
- Penicillin G Project (Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh):

India Demonstrates Laser Weapon Capability
Overview & Achievement:
- Successful Demonstration:
- India successfully conducted trials of a high-power laser-based weapon system developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
- The demonstration showcased the system’s ability to neutralize fixed-wing aircraft, missiles, and swarm drones.
- Global Standing:
- With this breakthrough, India joins an exclusive league of nations—including the United States, China, and Russia—that possess directed energy weapons (DEWs), often compared to "Star Wars" technology.

System Details & Technical Features:
- Weapon System – Mk-II (A) DEW:
- The indigenous system is a 30-kilowatt laser weapon capable of emitting a focused beam that strikes targets at the speed of light.
- Key feature: It rapidly locks onto aerial targets using integrated radar and electro-optic (EO) systems.
- Operational Capabilities:
- Precision Engagement: Can disable enemy drones by causing structural damage and disrupting surveillance sensors.
- Multiple Target Neutralization: Designed to engage several targets simultaneously—proving its potential for countering drone swarms and diversified airborne threats.
Test Parameters & Venue:
- Field Demonstration:
- The successful field trial was conducted at the National Open Air Range in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
- During the test, the laser system accurately tracked and shot down unmanned aerial vehicles, highlighting its high precision and reliability in real-time combat scenarios.
Delhi's New Anti-Pollution Moves – Are They Enough to Tackle the City’s Chronic Smog?

Overview & Context:
- Recurring Crisis:
- Delhi experiences severe air pollution every winter, with smog episodes that badly affect public health and quality of life.
- *Reactive vs. Proactive Approach:
- Traditionally, measures have been reactive—implemented during peak pollution (October to November)—rather than ensuring a year-round strategy.
Key Anti-Pollution Measures Announced:
Enhanced Emissions Check:
- Traditionally, measures have been reactive—implemented during peak pollution (October to November)—rather than ensuring a year-round strategy.
- Revised Pollution Under Control (PUC) Policy:
- Out-of-State Vehicles: Now required to carry a valid PUC certificate when entering Delhi.
- Objective: Aimed at tightening emissions checks and stopping highly polluting vehicles from adding to Delhi's already strained air quality.
Expansion of Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure:
- Target by 2026:
- 48,000 EV Charging Points: Split into 18,000 publicly managed and 30,000 semi-private.
- Aim: To encourage a shift from fossil-fuel vehicles to cleaner, electric alternatives.
Air Quality Monitoring Improvements:
- New Monitoring Stations:
- Six additional air quality monitoring centers to provide real-time pollution data.
- Purpose: To strengthen tracking and enforcement efforts across the city.
Eco-Park for Electronic Waste:
- E-waste Processing Facility:
- An eco-park is planned to address pollution from improper e-waste disposal.
Supplementary Measures:
- An eco-park is planned to address pollution from improper e-waste disposal.
- Reinforcement of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), though seen by some experts as a short-term fix rather than solving underlying issues.
Challenges and Criticisms:
- Short-Term vs. Long-Term Impact: Critics argue that while these moves address symptomatic problems, they do not tackle the root causes of pollution.
- Vehicular Emissions: Despite improvements like CNG adoption and stricter BS6 norms, the sheer density of vehicles (accounting for around 8% of the country’s total in a compact area) continues to compromise air quality.
- Complementary Public Transport: Experts stress that EV promotion alone may not reduce vehicle numbers unless supplemented with a strengthened public transport system.
- Transboundary Pollution: Delhi’s air quality is also affected by polluted air flowing in from neighbouring states, pointing to the need for a regional or “air shed” approach.
